Causes of Panic Attacks - What Really Happens To Your
Body
Note: This is part 2 of
the Causes of Anxiety Attacks(also known as causes of panic attacks)
series. For page 1 go to: Causes of Anxiety Attacks
Any of the previous
causes of panic attacks mentioned can lead to an unpleasant experience, a panic attack, which can feel like your body is breaking down from you.
Know that it is actually
protecting itself from what it perceives is harm. Just knowing this can help you tremendously as you weather the storm while a panic
attack is occurring.

I'll break down what happens during a panic attack as Ifeel that having an
understanding of how they work wil reduce the pain and
confusion they can cause.The
first thing that happens is one of the various causes of panic attacks
trigger some type of fear in you. This causes the body to release
adrenaline which cause you to experience what is called the flight or
fight response, where your body feels like it is in danger and only
has those two options as it prepares for a strenuous
event. Either fighting or running away from what is causing
the fear.
This than manifest itself physically by increasing the heart rate and breathing (which is why you would feel
the shortness of breath) and
excessive sweating.
Most likely during a
panic attack you will not actually have to do any strenuous activity, so hyperventilation (otherwise known as rapid breathing) causes a drop
in carbon dioxide in the blood
and also the lungs.
This is what causes other
physical symptoms such as the feeling of numbness, dizziness, and brain fog. Causes of panic attacks trigger all this and can
also cause the blood sugar to
move away from the brain and instead move towards major muscles.
Knowing the causes of
panic attacks will help you if you are a panic attack sufferer; because you can plan your daily activates to avoid situations that can
potentially trigger a panic
attack.
You can also surround
yourself with people who can supportyou emotionally. As a former anxiety
attack sufferer myself, I found it therapeutic to be able to talk
tosomeone about what I was going through. Do not hesitate
to reach out and ask for help, because interacting with other
people who understand you can really help you cope
with panic disorder. Even
better is if you can find a local support group of people with panic
disorders, because interacting with those who can relate to your
experiences can be be a big help.
Another great place to
find support is internet message
board forums that have other people who also have troubles with panic attacks. They have a lot of
tips and information available
in these forums.
I hope that I have been
able to educate you on the causes of panic attacks and that with this knowledge you will be better prepared to handle panic attacks when they
occur.
