EXERCISE
REGULARLY
Another great way in coping with
depression is exercise. Regular exercise has been known to be a great stress reliever. Reduced stress will aid
in conquering your depression. Some studies have shown that having a regular exercise routine can be as
effective as medications for depression. They also increase your energy levels, decrease feelings of fatigue,
and generally make you a healthier person.

Another thing studies have shown is that
exercise can raise endorphins, increase neurotransmitter's in the brain, minimize stress, and relieve tension in
your muscle. All those factors also decrease the effects of depression.
At least 30 minutes a day three to five
days a week minimum is a good start in creating an exercise plan. You don't have to go full blast right away,
aim for consistency. Start out small such as a walk or go up some stairs. Swimming is also a great way to get
exercise as it uses all the muscles in your body. If you feel you are up to it you can do some more strenuous
physical activity such as sports or martial arts.
Next on our tips to coping with
depression is to adopt a healthy diet with lots of nutritious foods.
Eating healthy foods can make you feel
better and enhance your moods.
Some great diet tips
are:
- Do not skip breakfast! It is the most
important meal of the day and a good hearty healthy breakfast can start you out on the right foot.
- Say no to processed foods. Stick with
foods that are not processed such as pure meat, vegetables, fruits, rice, cheese, ECT...
- Take a daily vitamin - We normally do
not get all the vitamins we need from food along. A daily vitamin you can take in the morning with your
breakfast can give you the necessary vitamins and minerals your food does not provide.
- Drink lots of water. You want to stay
hydrated all the time, drink lots of water and less junk like soda.
Last but not least in tips to coping
with depression is to eliminate negative thought patterns.
When you are depressed the lens that you the view the world will tend to have a negative shade to
it. Listening to motivational tapes and reading books on positive thinking can help you defeat those negative
thought patterns.
Also try to spend time with more positive people, because the people we keep in our lives influence
us and you want that influence to be positive when you are coping with depression. I can tell your from
personal experience that making these types of lifestyle changes will greatly aid in recovering from
depression.
